Groenmarkt smaragd is named after the daily green market that can be found in the center of The Hague. Fruit and vegetables have been sold daily on the green market in The Hague since the Middle Ages. The former town hall, the large church and the city inn 't Goude Hooft are all that remain. In addition, the well-known Haagse Bluf, winner of the new city prize in 2001, can be found at the green market.
